This emerald paradise is situated about 40 km. away to the
North of the trapezoid shaped island of Mumbai city and
8 km. from the Arabian Sea.The park belt lies between longitude
720 53' to 720 58'E and latitude 190 08' to 190 21'N, covering
an area of approximately 140 sq.km.
Getting there
Suburban trains are the most frequent and popular means
of reaching the park and can be boarded from Mumbai Chatrapati
Shivaji Terminus (Central Railway) and Mumbai Central (Western
Railway), the nearest rail terminuses, which are about 40
km. and 36 km. respectively from the park. The destination
would be Borivili, the nearest railway station from where
the park entrance is less than 2 km. away.
Other public transport in the form of buses
ply regularly (Route No. 188), throughout
the week, including Sundays and public holidays. In addition,
chartered vehicles freqeuently bring groups
of nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts
to the park throughout the week.
The nearest international airport, Sahar is
about 20 km. from the park's entrance. Santacruz
is the nearest domestic airport at a distance of 16 kms.,
and connects Mumbai to all major cities in India.
